Publishing a Blipp

All blipp publishing is done via Blippar's HUB platform.

Preparing blipp data

File structure

To publish a blipp all the blipp files must be placed into containing folders that are all placed in one master folder. For this example we will name the master folder My blipp. This master folder will have to be zipped before it can be uploaded - the server will then separate all the files accordingly. Although the archive file size limit is 100 MB blipps should be much smaller to download quickly over 3G/4G networks.

The master folder can have any other name as long as it doesn’t include special characters. This folder will contain an assets folder and a javascript folder. Capitalization is very strict for these names.

The assets folder will include all the files used in the blipp such as textures, 3D models, sounds, fonts, etc. Some of these format are not available to use at the moment but any file necessary for the blipp will go here. Remember that files other than md2 or textures listed in the texture or textures tag of a model will need to be included in a files list to make sure they will download to the user’s device when blipping. Read more about file inclusion here.

The javascript folder will include the main.js source and package.json mandatory files but they can include other JSON files for model descriptions or other JS files linked to main.js like libraries. Learn more about javascript coding for blipps and see an example of the blipp file structure here.
